Our scope
What we do, and what we don't
Autovolve provides fluid and filter maintenance and external diagnostic work for automatic gearboxes. We don't carry out internal gearbox rebuilds. Fresh fluid can't rebuild a severely worn transmission, and we won't suggest a flush as a universal fix when the specific transmission design says otherwise. Wrong fluid specification can create problems of its own.

Automatic Gearbox questions
Do you rebuild automatic gearboxes?
No. We provide suitable servicing, diagnostics and external repair. Internal rebuild work is outside our scope.
How often should the fluid be changed?
Intervals and requirements vary by gearbox, vehicle and use. There's no single figure that applies to every automatic.
Will a fluid change cure jerking or slipping?
It can't be promised. Those symptoms may involve control faults, clutch packs, hydraulics or internal wear that a fluid change won't fix.
Do you carry out gearbox flushing?
Not as a universal service. The specific transmission determines the appropriate maintenance route, and flushing isn't right for every design.
Do all automatic gearboxes have a filter?
No. Designs vary, and filters may be internal, external, or combined with the sump.
How much is an automatic gearbox service?
Cost varies by fluid specification, filter arrangement, seals, access and procedure, so we quote per vehicle.
