A fault code names a system, not always a part. Autovolve's diagnostic process combines fault codes with live data, electrical testing and manufacturer technical information to find the actual cause before anything is replaced.

We don't offer free fault-code scans
Professional diagnostics is paid, skilled work: interpreting live data and testing components, not simply reading or clearing a code. A code names the affected system; it doesn't reliably tell us which part to replace, so we test before recommending parts rather than fitting whatever a generic code lookup suggests.

Can you diagnose any make of car?
We work on a wide range of cars and light vans, with our strongest background in Audi, Volkswagen, Škoda, SEAT and Ford, supported by professional multi-brand diagnostic tools.
Does a fault-code scan tell you which part to replace?
Not reliably. Codes identify the affected system, but testing is normally required before condemning a specific component.
Can you repair the fault after diagnosing it?
Yes. Once the cause is confirmed, we provide a separate repair quotation for you to approve.
How long does a diagnostic assessment take?
It depends on complexity. Some faults are identified quickly; intermittent or wiring faults can take longer to test properly.
Can you investigate a car that won't start?
Yes, including battery checks, cranking assessment, fault codes, and fuel, ignition or timing signal analysis.
What do I get after a diagnostic?
An explanation of the evidence, the likely cause, a proposed repair or next test, and the cost, all before anything is authorised.
