Cooling System Repair Derby

Overheating is a warning, not something to drive through. We diagnose before replacing parts. Hoses, radiator, thermostat, water pump, sensors and fan-control are all checked so you're not paying to swap components that were never the actual fault.

Book an assessment if

  • Temperature warning or overheating
  • Coolant level repeatedly dropping
  • Visible coolant under the vehicle
  • Cooling fan constantly running, or never running
  • Slow warm-up or unstable temperature
  • Poor heater performance alongside cooling issues

Our diagnostic path

  1. 01

    History and inspection

Fault occurrence, recent repairs, coolant top-ups and visible signs reviewed first.

  2. 02

    Targeted testing

Pressure testing, temperature and electrical data, and component operation checked.

  3. 03

    Agreed repair

Evidence explained and work quoted before anything is authorised.

  4. 04

    Refill and verify

Correct coolant procedure used, then temperature and leak condition rechecked.

Temperature warning showing now? Stop in a safe place immediately. Continuing to drive risks serious engine damage. Never open a pressurised, hot cooling system.

Cooling System Repair questions

Can I keep driving when the temperature warning appears?

No. Stop in a safe place immediately. Continuing risks serious engine damage, and you should never open a pressurised, hot cooling system.

Why is coolant dropping with no visible puddle?

A leak may only occur when hot or pressurised, evaporate off a hot component, enter the cabin, or occasionally be internal, so inspection and pressure testing help identify which.

Can a faulty thermostat cause overheating?

Yes, but fan, pump, radiator, leaks and sensor faults can produce similar symptoms, so testing is needed to confirm the cause.

Why does it overheat in traffic but not on the motorway?

Airflow and fan operation are critical at low speed, and a fan-control fault is possible that needs testing before parts are replaced.

Is coolant stop-leak a permanent fix?

It isn't presented as one. Sealant products can complicate diagnosis and cause restrictions elsewhere. A mechanical repair is preferred.

Could overheating mean head-gasket damage?

Possible, but external cooling faults are more common. Testing and history are needed, and if evidence points beyond our scope we'll explain the appropriate next step.
