Grinding brakes? This can indicate severe wear or metal-to-metal contact. Continuing to drive may worsen the damage and isn't safe, so get it looked at rather than driving on it.
Brakes & Suspension questions
Do brake discs always need replacing with pads?
No. Disc thickness, condition, corrosion and scoring are assessed rather than replacing discs as a blanket rule.
Why does the steering wheel shake when I brake?
Brake-disc or hub issues are possible, but suspension wear can also contribute, so a physical inspection is needed to confirm the cause.
What causes knocking over bumps?
Links, bushes, joints, mountings, springs and dampers can all be responsible. Location and driving conditions help, but inspection is usually needed.
Should suspension components be replaced in pairs?
Dampers and springs are often best considered as axle pairs for balanced performance, depending on the component and manufacturer guidance.
Do you diagnose ABS warning lights?
Yes, as paid diagnostic work. A stored code indicates a direction to investigate, but it doesn't automatically identify the failed part.
Will extra work found during the job cost more?
Not without authorisation. If related damage or wear changes the scope, we explain the evidence and revised cost before continuing.
